The 301A has been developed for near and mid-field monitoring at high
listening levels.
Used for
mastering and music balancing the 301A is also suitable in any situation
where critical evaluation of audio material is required. This is currently
the largest monitor in the Compact range. All Compact Reference Monitors
have been developed in conjunction with professional sound engineers. The
feedback they provided has been incorporated in the designs resulting in
monitors with pinpoint imaging, accurate transients and a flat frequency
responses.
A 28mm
soft dome tweeter produces clear precise treble. With ferro-fluid cooling
as standard this drive unit can handle peaks in excess of 1000Watts. A
210mm bass gives a smooth extended frequency response down to 35Hz.
For full
frequency coverage the 802FEU’s (Frequency Extension Units) are available.
These units integrate seamlessly with all Excel monitors extending full
rich bass down to the lowest octave. FEU’s also form the perfect stand for
all Excel Compact Monitors. A rear mounted two way amplifier matches
perfectly to the drive units. The crossovers are minimum phase and use high
order active filters providing accuracy and stability.
The MDF
cabinet is pressure glued, internally braced and damped. The exterior edges
are radiused to reduce diffraction, and are finished in a hard wearing
textured lacquer. Veneers are available to special order.
